The tale of weather extremes! We went from bome dry to swamp wet. I'm between rainstorms I've managed to get my green beans, radishes, lettuce, cabbage, and two rows of onions in. This evening it was like planting in a loamy swamp. We need a sunny HOT day to really turn things on.
Unfortunately all I see in the forecast is more rain. I only have sweet corn, pumpkins, cucumbers, summer squash, zucchini, and tomatoes left to drop in. Can you tell I'm behind? Hopefully by the weekend.
I finally got the garden all in. The weather really held things up this year. Hot and dry to start the planting season, now it has been really wet to the point of making my garden into a mudpile. The kids and I buckled down on Saturday and finally got everything in.
We have green beans, radishes, lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, sweet corn, popcorn, summer squash, zucchini, tomatoes, pumpkins, and watermelon. I even put in a few monster pumpkins to see if I can compete with you fellas in the great pumpkin grow off.
The four circles you see are 12" PVC that I got from a fella. I was going to make it into a fleshing beam, but instead decided to cut it into 10" pieces, bury it, and use them as planters. Right now they are holding four different kinds of herbs.

I also just got mine in last week, but not all of it. Still have tomatos and peppers to put in . This is the latest I have ever been . See if it's to late?
Since I live in suburbia, I use planter boxes exclusively for fruit and veggies, and build them to my needs.
Need to finish up the trellising, but my Triple Crown blackberries are doing great considering they were root stock in April. They also shelter the raspberries, on the inside of the box, from getting burnt from the long sunny days and hot temps.
Top row is cucumbers, and a row and a half of different types of basil. The rest will be beets, spinach, and lettuce. Hopefully with this box only getting a half day of sun, the lettuce won't bolt as quickly.
A box full of peppers, eggplants, and horseradish. Had a cantaloupe, but it died immediately after planting. Have a few more plants to put in the ground yet since we moved last year, but getting to them.
My garden boxes from last year full of strawberries (and leftover cilantro seeds that replanted and already have bolted), and a mixed box of 6 tomatoes, hops growing up the fence, and a cantaloupe in the shade under the tomatoes. Lots of pots of mint and chives scattered around the yard. Next year I will put in a hop rhizome going the other direction of the fence.
Have an empty box that I need to get loaded with dirt. It has already been dedicated to Asian long beans and bitter melon.
More starts that need to find a home. Beets, lettuce, strawberries, bitter melon, annual flowers, daffodils, all kinds of bulbed perennials, and a boat load of sunflowers.
Most of my focus has been on not having the front yard look so drab. Was just stumps and some cruddy bushes a few months ago. Tore them all out, leveled, bricked, and replanted. Just have to do the final touches on the irrigation to work with the in-ground sprinklers.
And who doesn’t like a peach tree. The bricks piled behind it will soon be the outline of the bed for the sunflowers.
