with good old mother nature changing like she has the last several yrs i've noticed the increase in severe storms, the biggest threat ( tornadoes) i've seen them hit in all parts of our country an was wondering how many of u have storm shelters or what type of plan do u have!
Ace..this may sound crazy but I dug into a steep hillside and built an underground bunker type room it is 12x24. It stays between 56 and 72 degrees year round. I put a walkin box in the back, and stocked shelves with food. There is 18" of concrete poured over railroad rails in the roof there is 3' dirt on top. I figure it will serve both as a cellar and a place to shelter if anything hits the fan.
It's all fun and games until someone gets their eye poked out!

sounds like a good plan to me jc ;D i do plan on building one this summer i want to attach it to the house i've already drawn up my plans an redpig i don't think ur crazy at all ;D if u are ur crazy like a fox
I had this thought this morning. Now this idea would take more resorces then most people have like I said just an idea that hit me. Dig into a hillside like redpig has done his bunker but instead of building the bunker you put a semi trailer off the axles in the hole and modify the trailer to fit your needs then bury it with only the front doors facing out. Would be plenty of room to utilize. It could be partitioned off to create different rooms for different needs. Just an idea.
