Here's a money saving tip for you guys. I usually go through a pair of work boots a year. I only use them working around my property. I buy them in April and by the end of the winter they're shot. I've bought super expensive boots, medium priced boots and cheap boots and still the most I'll get out of them is a year. April of 2009 was no different. I needed boots. I was in Tractor Supply getting some other stuff and checked out the work boot line while I was there. I picked out a pair of steel toes in my size and tried them on. It seemed like a pretty good fit and they looked well made. The price was about $100 bucks so I figured I'd try them out. When I got up to the register the girl offered me a warranty on the boots. I thought this was pretty silly but I asked her to explain it. You pay $10.00 and if anything goes wrong with the boots, except the laces, for two years they'll give you a free pair of boots. Now I buy a new pair EVERY year so this sounds to good to be true and, although it's against my better judgment, I splurge for the extra 10 bucks.
Fast forward to August of 2010 and the outside toe seams are splitting on my boots. They lasted 16 months. That in itself was pretty impressive. I had kept the receipt in the box in my attic and I packed up the boots and headed down to the store not quite sure how they were going to try to wiggle out of the warranty. When I got there I showed the girl the boots and she said "go get another pair". They replaced the boots for free and offered me the warranty on the new pair for $10.00. Now when I blow the seams out of these, unless they change their policy, I'll keep getting boots for $10.00 a pair!
