Just finished organizing my income and expences for 2010. For the whole year, my household bills were as follows:

Electric bill : 549.40
Phone service, Long distance and Internet: 877.69
Propane for house and Fur Shed: 730.50
______________________________
total = 2157.59

My fur checks came to 3614.26

The fur market aint what it used to be but it sure is rewarding to be able to do something you love and pay for a years worth of utilities with it.

When I tell people about how low my usage is, they think we either walk around in the dark or with lanterns on. None of the above. I'm very frugal but also love to spend money. I like to spend on things I want but don't want to have to work all the time to do so. The answer is simple and thats cut corners where it don't hurt. I don't have any unneccessary spending. No call waiting, caller ID, and BS like that. My low electric usage simply comes from NOT BURNING ANY WHERE I DON'T NEED IT. There's no porch lights on when I'm inside, no lights on in the garage when I'm in the house and no devices burning standby power. Standby power is the biggest waste of power in most households. I'm not running the dryer when I can hang clothes on the line and ALL electrical devices such as my entertainment center, radios and such are all on power strips, which are turned off when not in use. Do you know that a microwave will burn more power in a year when not in use than all the cooking time combined, just from it's standby power. I don't waste ANY electricty ans my bill proves that. First off, ya gotta get out of the habit of flicking lights on when they're not really needed. I see it in people when they come for a weekend. They go in the spare room and flick the lights on and you can see just fine cause it's day time, then they come out and plank their asses on the couch and leave all the lights on in the spare room where they could have seen just fine without them

Im like JC I hate using electicity when its not needed.my electric is abit more then JC but I know it would be more if not limiting its usage.Now if I caan get my 16 year old daughter to get that through her head
