Gentlemen,
I have a barrel full of grille wood {3"-4'} and tomorrow plan to cut enough cook wood for the smoker {6"-9"} to finish filling two barrels. The more I cook with wood the more I like it and the more ideas I get about other uses for cook wood. I like BBQ there's no denying it and I like Pizza too. I don't know where I came by the idea to cook Pizza over a wood fired oven but that is how they do it in Italy. Here's one U-tube video of a wood fired Pizza oven being used to cook a Pizza and rather than 17-18 minutes it takes 2-3! It takes 25-30 minutes to warm up my kitchen oven to 485 degrees and to cook a Pizza. Nearly half an hour at full blast, that's a lot of propane!
Pizza, bread, all kinds of good stuff can be cooked on these wood ovens. And since I have 15 acres of woods which need clearing anyway, and did I tell y'all that I have been making Pizza from scratch for 35 years, I am thinking...

Some of these Pizza ovens are BBQ ovens too but just look at all the Pizza oven designs on the right of the page. I'll have the pictures of my wood hoard and cooking porch set up and a report on my visit to the Hickory House complete with pictures very soon.

That was a perfectly functioning Pizza oven even though it looked crude, that was why I picked that one, because it was crude.
Fire bricks stacked up with the right proportions and sitting on something. That one is on a trailer.
And here is a wood burning Pizza oven building site which I just found! Now I imagine the guy is using fire bricks. But there are 'special bricks' to which high temperatures are no problem. Used in propane forges, the bricks as well as 'castable refractory cement' are alright up to 2,000 degrees, way more than baking bread.
ie. {500 degrees} Regular concrete cracks at high temperatures!

Pizza uses more propane than anything else I cook but for roasts.
And these wood fired ovens are not only cost free once built but do a better job then a gas oven. One could get a thermometer set up so as to better monitor the heat. And set it up on my screened in porch where I just keep dirty shoes and my broom now. This is really big and as well as saving money and cooking better Pizza, the outside Pizza oven helps me set the landscaping theme for the east side of my house.
It has been cloudy all week but I am still waiting to get pictures of my own cooking porch. The bottomless wood 'barrels' are made of wire netting 2" x 4" x 3'. They hold cook wood for grille/smoker enough to last me 6 months and now I am thinking about an outside Pizza oven and how to design my landscaping around it too.
This is really big!
And it could provide enough work selling wood chips, making ovens, not to mention saving $ on fuel for ones kitchen oven to help out.
