One of my ducks thinks it is a chicken

One of my mature duck hens has started climbing the ramp to enter the raised chicken coop just to lay her egg.



I will say since she has been doing so the nest box is better kept.

I had a duck hen that was doing the same thing this spring. She even sat on the chicken eggs even if she hadn't laid any eggs of her own. Sometimes I came into the coop to find a hen sitting on the ducks back. Of all the nest boxes she could choose from, she only wanted to lay where the chickens did. Whenever I went in to gather eggs, it always ended up in an altercation between me and the duck, inwhich eggs would usually get broke. Finally got rid of her when she attacked and killed a young chicken that got too close to the eggs she was guarding.

Interesting. In this heatwave we're getting, I bet my chickens would act like ducks if I gave them a wading pool.
