CJ, good posting on your little 'uns. I raised a lot of chickens in my day, back when I had pet snakes.

I see that you might have your lamp a little too close for their comfort. They look too scattered. If I may suggest, a bit higher, until they're all over their enclosure. Not clustered under the lamp, and not way off to the edges.

I had to put the brood box inside the actual coop, to prevent the cats from messing with. Which means, the temps outside will flucuate from below freezing to 50. Depending on the temps outside, will dictate how close or far away they get to the lamp. They were pretty scattered in the pic, cause I had just put them in. When I check on them this morning, they were all pretty good.

Well, it's been just over 15 weeks since I got the laying hens. We found our first egg yesterday
