Grinder went kaput. Recommendations?

Well, after two seasons our Weston grinder went kaput. The plastic part of the motor that spins (yes plastic should have been the first dead givaway that it wouldn't last) shattered and the plastic gear that spun the blade melted. Only managed to get 20 packages of ground done this morning and still have 3 large containers of bear sitting in the fridge that were supposed to get done also. I'd rather not have to just cube it for stew.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a grinder they've put to the test and has survived year after year?

Hand grinder. All cast. Never fails. All I use. ;D

Sorry to hear that Rhyla. Talk about leaving you in a pinch. I never had good luck with the household style grinders so I finally invested in a more commercial grade from LEM company. I've had it around 15 years now but thy run in the 400.00 range.

what JC said I have a Lem grinder that I to have had for 15= years very good investment. ;D

Cabelas Heavy duty seems to last also but are not cheep.

+1 for the LEM grinders. Had it only about 5 years but it trucks along nicely with zero maintenance, only cleaning.

i own a 1 hp cabelas grinder and never had any issues like stated above Lem also makes a great grinder

Got a 1 HP LEM two years ago and no complaints. Last year we ran 7 deer, three pigs, and a cows worth of hamburger through it and it never bucked. They make a high quality machine.
