A guy I know uses pine shavings for bedding in his coop and cleans it out twice a month. He said he puts it in his garden for fertilizer. Is this okay? Chicken manure has a lot of nitrogen in it. It would seem it would have to be composted for awhile.
Whenever you want to mulch or add compost to your estabilished garden try this.
Get a couple pots or buckets of different sizes. Put them over your plants THEN add compost. Keeps it off the leaves and away from the stems. No more burning the leaves or plant stems.
