Can Corn Be Grown In a Smaller Area???

Has anyone ever grown corn in a smaller area? What is the minimal amount of space needed to grow corn? How far apart do I need to be between rows and between planting the seeds? I really would like to grow some corn next year and I am not sure of how to go about it, I don’t have a lot of space but a fairly large backyard. Just looking for some opinions on this one, thanks for the help fellas!

There are patio hybrid varieties now for small plots. Otherwise a 10 by 10 foot square. You can also try a 3 sisters garden.

Hey John, I usually put my plants about a foot apart and keep the rows about 2 feet apart.

I have planted small 12x12 plots with good success. I've kept my rows 24 to 30" apart and the plants approx. a foot apart. I've had my best success with Kandy corn. It's got a burgundy colored husk and is super sweet It's the only corn that has ever done well for me.

I always grow corn in blocks instead of rows. I have grown in as small a space as 4' x 4' (with 6" between plants in each direction) but prefer larger blocks... the 10' x 5' block I grew at my parents garden years back did better, though my 4' x 4' block did produce.

I plant two double rows. Two rows about a foot apart, then two feet space and another two rows about a foot apart. I also take a tassel off of five different stalks and run them over the silk every couple days for a week or so. Is it necessary? It works for me, I do well with sweet corn.

ive grown them in groups of 4 before...yes, four plants. You can grow 2 if need be, you just have to pollinate.

The "blocks" or squares are the best.
