This one seems elementary, but how about just taking care of what you already have? No point in buying something twice. Take care of it and you'll have it for life.
The problem is today that most things aren't make to be fixed any more. With all the computer chips they throw in everything that it only takes a bump to mess up it's hard to take care of things these days. The world has gotten away from the K.I.S.S. logic. It's all about making money and they can't do that if their product keeps working.
“Arms in the hands of the citizen may be used at individual discretion for the defense of the country, the overthrow of tyranny, or private self-defense. It’s not the proper role of government to deprive a citizen of his “unalienable right” to defend his life, liberty, or property.” – John Adams
No kidding. I was asking my mechanic about dropping a crate motor with a carb into my truck when I wear the original out. Skip all the electronic stuff that breaks down and only gives a whopping 1-2mph extra.
He said they have almost all the systems on modern vehicles run through the computer to avoid that very thing.
It would cost a small fortune to remove the computer stuff and hardwire your basic systems back in old school style. Even your gas gauge runs through the computer now days.
Its getting so I look for stuff made before 1970 when purchasing durable goods and farm stuff. At least you can get parts and FIX that stuff.
