Took Dawn (wife) to the poultry swap this past Saturday.I was looking for some new laying chicks which I did pick up 12 more Black Star chicks. Then Dawn spotted some baby turkey chicks. So she thought we should get some to raise to butcher, which I figured wan't a bad idea.we have always raised chicken and Muscovy ducks for eating.never turkey,Who on here has raised turkey for butcher? I don't remember what kind she said these are.I there on breed that is better for eating then another? Dawn did ask the lady if these are good eaters the lady said they will be better then Butter Ball.

I raise turkey and they are very easy. very similar to chickens. I kept mine in an old greenhouse that wasnt really trapping heat anymore so they didn't die of heat. just keep up with their food and water and youll be good to go in a few months. I feed mine cracked corn and mix it with something I cant remember the name of it right now its filled with protein and when its mixed right it really helps the growth of all animals Ill let you know what it is when I remember. if you have any questions let me know id be happy to help!
Ive raised them too, their pretty much identical to chickens except for some different temperatures when their a couple days old. I let mine free range once they have a enough feathers and they grow like crazy. You'll be happy with the result!
