I'm pretty sure a good many of you make your own wooden stretching boards. i have made a few descent ones snd I would like to make some more. I used spruce and pine for the last ones and I dont have a supply of basswood anywhere around. Does anyone have any recommendations on what kind of wood to use? Also do you have to buy wood already cut in planks or could you cut your own?

You can use plywood also, it's just harder to put the pins in. I make mine out of pine,I buy the boards. It's not any cheaper , I just like working on them. I have 6 or so plywood fox boards when I use them I have a electric staple gun, I use that instead of pins.
