While wrapping up cutting wood across the street today, clearing lanes, I spotted a bird feeder that had washed up in the trees, after the recent flood. It looks like it's made a hell of a journey, and probably hasn't been in use in a few years. I looked it over, and decided is wasn't beyond repair just yet. I brought it up to the house to "redo".

I took it apart tonight. I think I can rebuild her. Stay tuned.....




Also snatched up an old wood ladder. I think I might have a landscaping use for this too...

I love what high waters can bring in. Last spring I found a 8' 4x4 post about 6 feet up in a tree beside the creek. I grabbed it and made the frame for my fleshing beam out of it. Free lumber!

with all that nice "patina" on it...and just a little work you will have a nice "vintage" feeder....(using all the new hip and TV lingo..LOL)

and BTW~~I love finding reusable things beside the road or in the woods /swamps....a good feeling!!!

I got it broke down into several pieces, and add more screws to solid it up. I gave it a coat of dark mahogany stain, discarded the old 4x4 post, and "distressed" a new treated 4x4 with same stain. The plexi-glass panels were a beach to get cleaned, but I got them close to normal

I've got a few more things to do to it, then will reassemble, and get it installed. I think I'll get another 4-5 years out of it at least. Will definitely post a pic when it's back in operation

Price was right and with your efforts, it will be better than a new one off the shelf - and it has some character. Good work.

I make a little extra money on used duck decoys after high water ride around and pick up the ones that got washed away in , boat down the creeks and find them hung up on bushes , beaver dams or what ever also find them in road ditches , sell them to people for decorations 2-3 $ each , adds up quick especially since there are so many duck clubs around . The best part is they don't have to be pretty the more used they look the better .

Nice job. That is a keeper and the birds will like it better tha a new painted model. In my experience they tend to stay away from freshly painted stuff - maybe know something we don't.
