Got the smoker ready today

It's been a couple years since I ran my smoker, so I decided to clean off the dust, and get it back in working order.
I unhooked the burner, and blew it out. Pretty rusty and only a few gas ports were unblocked. Everything is cleaned up now.



I replaced some thick aluminum around the bottom interior base, about 2 feet up, then hooked the burner back up. It fired right up.



It only took about 10 to 15 minutes to get it up to 220 degrees, then I open the vents, and cut the heat back. Everything seems to be working great. Now just need to pick a weekend to do some chickens or fish. I can do 25 chickens at a time fully loaded.






The mice inside were all scrambling to get out when I fired it up. Tis one went straight to the roof

Hey, mbalmu is done tilling my garden, he can come over and re stain the smoker, I think its 40 degrees warmer than the last time we did it!

One of these years we need to save 2-3 venison quarters and smoke them,,slice them thin with the meat slicer and have a bunch of lunchmeat!!

Glad to see it fired up without too much trouble CJ,,,i need to fill my small freezer with smoked chicken and cornish hens this spring buddy!!

Get on it. Pretty simple to make, really I might get a batch of something going this weekend when hogkiller is here

Fired up my smoker today , put about a 5-6 lb ham in, finish it off with a maple glaze.
