As many of you probably know plucking geese and ducks is much different than a chicken. Anyone have any tips or tricks to make this job faster or easier?
I've heard the automatic pluckers don't work on ducks and geese. I tried rough plucking then dipping in paraffin wax then into cold water and then peeling the wax off taking the feathers with it and it really worked great I was impressed. But a goose took 3/4 of a box of wax to cover and at almost $10 a box, that's just throwing away money. There's got to be a better way
Ive seen the automplucker work on ducks, geese and chickens, the ducks and geese normally took an additional dunk in hot water and a second spin in the plucker.when we dunk them its more of a up and down motion trying to get water in between every feather.

id call a local processer and ask were they get their wax.the guy up here does it with wax and I cant see him paying that much.other than that its pickin the pins by hand pin by pin.thats why we quit raising meat ducks!do about 20 chickens by hand before ya get one duck done!! good luck
We dunk in hot water and use a (old dish-washing) brush against the feather direction to get water in between the feathers. I've also heard about using some dish-washing soap in the hot water to help penetration, but I've never used it for the (irrational?) fear of getting the soapy taste on the fowl.
