Not sure if this post should go in the garden area, but here goes.
Our place is in prime pocket gopher geography. Let's just say my summer hobby for the last 20 years has been thinning them out. Last couple of years I have only trapped 5 or 6 pocket gophers, but the little stripped gophers or 13 line ground squirrels have taken over. Holes everywhere, even in my raised bed garden. While a .22 works great on the little buggers, I want to be safe with neighbors homes and property, so... Plan B.
Picked up a couple of plain old rat traps. Sunflower seeds for bait. Built a little wooden cover to keep my song birds safe and out of the traps and it has been off to the races. Easy trapping and the population is under control again.
