I had a huge bird nest under the cover of my propane tank, and it was a pleasure to watch them all spring from building the nest to raising their young, but since it was right outside our bedroom window I was happy to see them leave. A catbird call of 5 hungry birds in the morning at 5AM can get slightly annoying.
The bird all flew away a couple of weeks ago, so to prevent them from laying another clutch of eggs I opened up the propane cover and removed the nest. I noticed it was chuck full of bird poop and bug parts, so instead of just chucking it I decided to place it at the base of one of my tomato plants. The middle plant got the nest in this pic, and what a difference it made. Organic fertilizer at it's finest. Waste not want not, right?
