It's now February, that also means that it is the beginning of our prescribed burn season. Yesterday the weather gods finally granted us with good conditions so we took advantage and burned around 20 acres of warm season grasses. We burn on both our public lands and also contract with private landowners to help them accomplish there burning goals. Yesterday we burned some game plots on state forest land. Things went pretty well so that means I actually had the chance to take a few pictures.
Starting of with our test burn. This is our last chance to make sure that the fuel is dry, the wind direction is as expected, and that we don't have some weird unexpected cloud inversion that would make the smoke stay close to the ground.
All was good so we proceeded with the rest of the burn
Another burn block we got done yesterday
One of our crew found this deadhead yesterday as well. Pretty good genetics and had the makings to be a very fine public land buck. Hate to find them this way though.
