It looks like things are starting to take off now in the garden. Here it is mid May and the sweet corn hasn't made a good stand yet. The early planting was April 15 sparse coming up I lay it off on cool nights and the soil temperatures being a little cool for sweet corn. I'm pushing late harvest now coming off around first of August and its hot and dry usually here during that time. My last planting was May 15 with sweet corn, will hold off now maybe looking for a late July planting to come off in cooler and wetter times.. Okra is coming up looks like a good stand now.. we are pulling radish French Breakfast now.. the first thing from the spring garden. I had to replant a couple of rows of green beans no shows.. had a problem with seeds from the local feed and seed, bought two pounds of contenders one pound was purple the other were contenders being in a hurry I planted them all.. Yesterday I mowed the seeded out crimson clover around the bee hives sure looks better cleaning up there, I had sowed buckwheat a few days earlier maybe it will come up through the straw. Plowed through the beans and corn last night to clean up some just starting weeds, ran the tiller through the cucumbers to clean them up. Yesterday I transplanted tobacco plants into the tomatoes and some marigolds around the egg plants (companion plants) The cool season crops are really doing well potatoes, beets, and radish. Its just been a cool spring here..
