Hi guys I'm new to swamp talk and excited to get to finally talk to other folks that are into things I like ! My family outcast me cause I want and try to live a self sufficient free range productive lifestyle I want to get me a homestead one day soon! That said I'm interested in learning how to make bee boxes and how to get me some bees! I love em and there honey is great on anything exspeciallly a good ole homemade cat head buttermilk biscuit yummy! I have a tree at my hunting property that is full of bees I wish I could figure out a way to catch the bees for my personal hives once I build one then get the honey the tree is 3 feet in diameter and has a big split in middle that is from ground level all the way up to around 4 feet tall and it's where the bees call home any suggestions or help on the subject will be greatly helpful thank u from the newbie!

Welcome lawoods i'm a new beek so I can't help you much the only thing I can think of is to put a swarm box by the tree and if they cast a swarm you may get it or do a cut out but that would kill the tree maybe some of the other beek's will chime in and help you
An excellent site, for equipment making is ,Michigan bees. Then click on the bee keepers work shop. There are video's of how to do, for most items. also plans. I made a lot of stuff last winter, have been putting it to use . There is a lot of learning involved, if you are lucky enough to have a bee keeper in the area, who will mentor you, in return for free labor . You will benefit greatly. Tagging along with a bee keeper, is a good experience. The practical beekeeper, fat bee man, 629 dirt rooster are all good sites as well. I would put out a swarm trap right away , close to your bee tree . Bait with lemon grass oil, you might have some luck. This is swarm season. Have fun . old 243
