I have a hive bearding tonight, sounds like frig running. Has been hot nice weather the last few days. Have a 40 acre field of alfalfa and red clover, just over the fence from the hives and 100 acres of canola about a half mile away. Likely they are trying to evaporate the nectar. Have the hives all opened at the top, for extra air. Also hive top feeders, full of water, watering on the top seems to be working well, have been filling them about once a week. They have 3 supers on now . Will check in a few days , to see if they need another. Was able to make 3 nucs, have new queens hatched and laying. A queen cell in the 3rd box should be out shortly. Have regained my winter losses., up to 7 hives again. Have fun with the bees. old243

Old243 sounds like your having a good season good luck to you
we have four strong hives, one weak one, I added some brood to it in hopes of helping it..
and two dead outs, there were just a few bees in them but they left the next day or two..
Pulled three frames of capped honey and extracted it. I am not planning on trying to split any more this season am going to try to get these across the winter..
loss one split earlier to hive beetles.. man thats a mess of worms..
we are in the dearth now and the bees are mean. I have buckwheat in bloom, corn in tassel but I don't see bees working much..thinking I will start feeding as soon as I can get the garden worked out things are coming in now and we are canning beans, and will be working corn and okra next week..
