I haven't started mine treatments yet, but your right I've got to get on with it, its getting late.. guess I'll charge up the tractor battery and start today.
I'm still digging in the garden, cleaning up the summer garden and trying to get a fall garden in.. Peas are about to come in, and I've some late green beans, then theres the okra.
Gave my bees their first oav treatment today they were not happy at first and one got me in the wrist had to light the smoker should have been going for the start lol everything went good after that will be moving my two splits out of their nuc boxes into 8 frame double deep hives later this week hopefully everyone else is getting their bees ready for winter
Are you testing for mite load?
Have been doing alcohol washes on a monthly basis and my load has been low (1/300), but expect it to increase when I check in two weeks. Putting the syrup to my nucs to get their stores built up for winter. Has been a good year so far.
Got the last of my honey supers off this week. Early production was good . Our weather interfered with the goldenrod flow, cool and wet. Had a lot of canola honey this year, there was 200 acres near me , It sets up quick , so you have to extract it right away. Got mite strips in now, Pouring the feed to them , using tea tree oil and wintergreen in syrup, fat bee man formula, supposed to be good for nozema, we will see. Will get them ready for winter , in a couple of weeks. Started season with 4 surviver hives , now have seven. Building more fat bee man top feeders today, they are working out well. old243
