Interesting find last winter

Cool hive Derek! I remember as a kid, my dad would shoot them out of a tree when we had a fresh, light fluffy snow. He once took one home and put it on the kitchen table. Later that night, I awoke to the sound of my mom throwing a hissy fit because we had hornets in the house. She hollered at us kids to get under the quilts, and said a few choice words to my old man! He was up for the next few hours with the fly swatter! Thanks for bringing back some memories! Think I'll shoot one down this winter and see how my wife (city raised) deals with it ;D ;D ;D

Nice derek. There's one over a downed hickory out back I might grab. I've been letting that hickory season, and went back to cut it up and couldn't.

Old wives tale about those being close to the ground means a mild winter, or up high, a bad winter; anyone ever hear this one?
