Since i cant explaing things in writting very well i took some pics of a net while i was building it.

1"X2" netting

1" between each and every knot


The same webbing "streched" is 2"


In short 1" square mesh is the same webbing as 2" streched. That goes for any size. 4" square mesh is 8" streched

here i am tieing a throat in a hoop net

Thank you Derekdutton, have a karma. Closed up the size difference, but now you sparked my curiousity about making netting. Might just have to get me a kit from jannsnetcraft. Thank you again for the pics.

Muskrat, i have seen that kit it would probably be ok for you just starting out. all you really need is a few net needles a couple different mesh blocks. and some good quality twine.

Be prepared for sore fingers a few blisters and such, the nylon twine is a little rough on your hide for a little while ;D

Derekdutton maybe if you aren't to busy and got a chance, could you possably post a thread on making netting? That way myself and other members with a curiosity of net making could get off to a good start. Thank you for posting these pics and your help and time.

Was observing you are using a stick rule to measure with. Seem's only masons use them anymore. Was curious if you have layed brick?

muskrat24- It would be tuff do a very good post on how to build a net. Lots of variables turtle nets, fiddler nets regular catfish nets buffalo nets gill nets ect. I could maybe do a in general post. hard to put into pictures what exactly you gotta do. i will ponder on it for a little bit and see what i can do.

badger16- never laid a brick in my life. i use a rule like that daily in my welding shop. and when im on site pipe fitting its a staple!
