I just own a small piece of land (under 2 acres) but I've tried to do as much as possible to encourage songbirds to stay put here. I'd say about half of that is garden. Berries, vegetable, and some flowers. I've planted a few fruit trees, and seed trees as well. The other half is livestock housing and storage buildings. My property borders a small stream and swampy area, so I naturally conduct an intensive predator management program as well. ;D Last season I caught 13 coon, a buck mink, a red fox, 5 possum, and a fisher (released) less than 50 yards from my chicken coop. Here's a pic from the west side of my property. It's nice that I'm surrounded on the other two sides by agricultural land as well.

Mike, That's pretty neat looking. The wife and I are going to do a few areas similar to that next year. Just too many projects going on right now. We have a few feeders up, and some hummingbird feeders, but that's about it. We have a few spots in mind that we want to devote to song birds and such next spring. Thanks for posting.
Thanks CJ. I keep one feeder up year round. I feed only black oil sunflower seeds, and when I can afford it, I'll put out a couple thistle socks. Used to feed the hummingbirds, but with the few I have, the flowers are enough for them.
I hear you on the time. Throw money in there and those are the two things that really hold me back. lol I think I planted a total of 125 trees/shrubs/raspberries this spring. You know where most of my fur check went. ;D

have a karma for the habitat you provide
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I have not lived. ......Henry David Thoreau
Thanks Barry. You should be able to see the pic now, hunt101 was down all weekend. I have some other photos on my camera. I'll download them one of these days and post them.

Yep. I get Countryside and Backwoods Home. Love them both.
Here's a pic of my main garden from this spring. The hoop structure in the background is covered with netting for strawberries and blueberries. When you intentionally try and attract birds, you need to protect the things that you want to eat. lol
