It warmed up alot today so i went out in the mess and took some pics of some of the cages i built last summer!!
They are made out of old 6' pallets a friend had. They are 3' tall 6' deep and 6' wide and real simple to make.
The first thing I did was took the pallets apart (real simple just take a hammer and hit the wood until it comes off of the 4'' x 4''
Next I removed or flattend all remaining nails.
STEP 1
Then take 2 of the 4'' x 4" wide and 3' tall pieces and lay them nail a 6' board at the bottom of each board making it go beetween them (make sure everything is nice and lined up.
Make 2 of these. They should look something like this.
STEP 2
now take another 6' board across the top you should have 2 rectangles (hopefully, if not my instructions are harder to understand than i thought) They should now look like this.
STEP 3
Now you may need help for the next part.
Stand the 2 rectangles up and nail a 6' board across the bottom on both sides do the same at the top.
You should now have a complete rectangular box.
Step 4
The door can be of your choice. I put 2 more 4"x4" boards 2' in from the sides on the inside. Then put a piece of the wood inbeetween the top and bottom to make everything smooth. Then off to the side I made the actual door itself. Mine was made out of other 6' boards cut into the apropriate lengths (mine came out to be 1' 7" wide and 3' tall.). I started the wire on one of the boards before putting them together. i rolled the wire out then nailed a piece of scrap on top to hold the top piece and the side pieces togther. Continue nailing the wire down the sides until you get to the bottom then repeat the top step... the door should look like this.....
I would recomend wiring with 1/4 rabbit wire. its got alot of little squares so nothing can get in and you lil bird wont snap its neck.
Here is my finished product
I had tar paper around them to keep the wind out.... i tore it for the picture.
3/4 of one that i use for a chicken run. Thought this might intrerest a few that want to raise pheasant or something. they can me nailed together to make them longer or taller
