Young women in the trees

:PThis is for those of you who may have the perception that ALL college graduates & students are kind of wimpy.LOL ;D ;D I just received these photos of several of the young women (none older then 25) that I work with on a toxicology project. Three photos are of different women climbing trees to sample Great Blue Herons and one is of a young lady going up to clean a wood duck box. Notice the tops of the two Heron trees are dead where the nest are.LOL




I work mostly with this young lady. She's 25 and has two degrees and is one of three doctorate candidates on this project. She's doing her PhD study on the Great Blue Heron and Belted Kingfisher. She'll have her PhD in two years.

The wood duck boxes had been cleaned and new nesting material added a month or so earlier now it's opening them for occupancy.

Blame it on the day job, and you can yell at me if you want to... but spiking up live tree's ...good way to kill the tree. Going up once probably wont hurt it to bad but if the method is repeated its very un healthy for it.

Very Cool post ;D. Man those girls are way the heck up there . I'm pretty comfortable in a tree but I can't say that I'd be climbing that high. It sounds like you have a very interesting job. Too bad you didn't live closer I think I'd like hanging out with you. Have a karma and a few for the girls too

Seldom it sounds like you have an awesome job. Nothing like being out enjoying mother nature and getting paid for it. I am sure its a lot of work though. How big are those holes in the boxes? The holes in the boxes around here seem awfully small. I have often wondered how a wood duck could get in them.....

Heck I think she would make anybody a good trapping partner ;D She would of come in handy that day I had a fisher work the wire loose and made it way up the tree and got tangled.
