Well, I ordered seed today for the 6 acre Quail strip.
The following will be planted per acre:
Grasses
Switchgrass 1lb Big Bluestem 1 lb Indian grass 1 lb Canada Wildrye 1.5lb
Forbs
Partidge Pea 4oz Purple Coneflower 1oz Blackeyed Susan .5oz New England Aster .5oz Golden Elexanders 1oz Sawtooth Sunflower .25oz Sneezeweed .75oz
Thought this may help for anyone else wishing to planting cover strips for birds. This is only a one time plant too. Mowing down to 8" hieght will have to be done twice this year for weeds, but other than that, the above will provide years of cover.

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I have not lived. ......Henry David Thoreau
