or I ain't gonna have enough cans this year Seriously have you noticed how high canning jars have gotten I was lucky last year. My wifes mamaw let me go under her house and get about 50-60 jars that were old and needed emptied..very nasty work but their just as good as new after words. the price on jars around here has went up probably 35% in the last couple years. I still need more.

You'd be lucky to find anything in glass jars these days, everythings in plastic When I took over this old abandoned homestead I found a ton of mason jars in the attic. Some big 2 quart babies too ;D

My Mother does a lot of canning, and she reuses jars from spaghetti sauce, pickles, applesauce,etc. ONCE. Most mayonnaise jars, if glass, use regular lids. There are also a couple brands of spaghetti sauce that still take canning lids.

Ive got a lot of the old BobWhite syrup jars that I can in. They were about a quart and a half and take a reg canning lid.

For anyone that wants canning jars, put an ad in the paper. I did that a couple years back and I got all the calls I could handle. I payed for some, but alot of them were given to me! Mostly older folks who didn't can anymore and wanted them out of the way.

they are high but only going to get higher as time goes on.also the more people can the higher the price will be and the availability of them.i have boguht alot of jars lately....i am trying to buy a few ever so often to have a good supply of them.i like the big half gallon jars.

Go to the estate auctions, this summer, usually the people there are after antiques, jars go for a $1-2 a doz, Steve

Cheapest I've found is Big Lots. 99 cents a box! But they are very seasonal!!

yahoo groups have a freecycle for just about every area and sometimes a local sales goup (like on line yard sales) I have found this is a good place to check for stuff like this. We found our awsome Tamale pot on there (our local one) new dirt cheep.

craigslist has a free section i have seen free jars there but you need to keep an eye on it because good stuff don't last long there is so much stuff there its hard to belive they are giving it all away
