Total acreage is around 100 acres of fences. This is my land and also I lease the fields that butt up to my land. The holstein steers in the pen have about 4 acres to call home when I release them out to graze. The Black Angus, They have all the rest to themselves along with the watch dog(Jackass). The Angus are all registered and the holstein are my beef critters... ;D

John, when you say registered are you saying you have them just for breeding and sale? Just wondering and why the holsteins aren't angus supposed to be the desirable choice? Sorry for my ignorance, ahead of time. I hope to get a couple steers next year so any info is appreciated.

Yes, the Angus are only for sale or breeding purpose. When I cull the herd then I still own them until they are purchased by the consumer, not the packing plant. ;D I personally don't care for the Angus taste so I select Holstein for my own purpose. Holstein are fun to raise and relatively easy compared to some breeds. I'll be keeping one of these bulls for breeding purpose and then later this spring buy a few heifers to keep the strain going.
How are you liking North Carolina John?I see your getting a farm going down there.I'm getting back into raising turkeys, pheasents, quail, guinea hens, and chickens myself.
