For those of you that know me, you have heard me go on and on about the benefits of paying your bills with rewards cards. Not long ago I posted a pic of a ton of Cabelas stuff that I got for free and before that there was a pile of whole chickens. I'm not gonna bother going through the cents and percents of the breakdown but I'll post this little tidbit for you all to chew on and then I'll be doing a little chewing myself.

I pay EVERYTHING with my rewards cards. All home expenses, trapping supplies for my business, gasoline, Big mac value meal, ship a bottle of fox piss and even a book of postage stamps. I pay one bill at the end of the month (in full) and with one stamp.

My latest card statement showed that I had 59.70 in earned rewards. My local market was having an awesome special on whole Delmonico steak packs at 3.99lb (unsliced) .

I bought this a little while ago for 59.79



And sliced it up into 19 Delmonicos at 3/4 thick



My total out of pocket expense for these 19 steaks is 9 cents

All it takes is a little self discipline

When I seperated from my ex this summer first thing I did was apply for a Cabelas card. Bought most of my Christmas presents with Cabelas Club points, and bought stuff for myself as well. A hoodie, a pair of shoes, ball cap, etc.

As long as you pay the bill IN FULL every month and don't carry a balance you can't go wrong! ;D

Funny thing was, that last night my wife brought home a 2 litre bottle of wine and where she shops she gets a card punched and last night's bottle was her free one

The steaks were awesome ;D We ate a pair and put 17 in the freezer for later.

14.98 pounds of Delmonico Steak and 2 litres of Svenska Red with a total cost of nine cents. Now that's a great way to end a year

Actually I was incorrect when I posted this. My wife set me straight this evening and since I paid for the steaks with the Cabelas card I earned .59 in bonus points so that means I GOT PAID 50 CENTS TO BUY THE 19 STEAKS .

I don't know why people can't relate to this.

Here we have gas bars that give ya cash back, Well in store credits I guess, Canadian tire is my newest friend. I filled the tank in my truck and got $2.55 back, The other day I got $2.35 BAck in Canadian Tire Dollars, I can use it to buy my Hunting and fishing gear,

Same goes with the Super Store...When ya buy gas there you get in store credit back with every fill up...

Our local grocery gives 'fuel perks'. 20 cents off a gallon for every $50 you spend in groceries. When you cash them in they let you get up to 30 gallons. ;D

Whats the best cards for rewards and kickbacks? Lots of them out there. What are the better ones?

Stay away from discover cards cause they offer (up to) 1% and up to is crap. You want a full 1% or higher return.

Cabelas card is a great NO Hassle card but they give returns redeemable at Cabelas and not cash.

Citibank dividends card aint bad but they have a cap of 300.00 in earnings per year.

Capitol one no hassle rewards has some good offerings as well.

Read over the specs in the link I provided to see which one suits your spending habits.


I have 2 of these steaks thawing out right now and they'll be on the grill in about an hour ;D

Yeah those rewards cards are great. My parents got me a brand new ipod with their rewards points. I'm not spoiled..... it was my dads fault my old ipod got ruined. We were fishing and long story short, he broke the motor and made me get in the water to walk the boat a shore. Well my ipod was in my pocket.... 4 weeks later i got a new......and free!!!! ipod in the mail ;D

Yeah, I think they are a good deal, if you can pay them off monthly like you say JC, but one thing I don't like is when they want you to pay that annual fee every year.

Now if I could get a card with no annually fee and free stuff that would be out of this world.

Something that no one talked about is a debit card. Most of the time, if you use a debit card as a credit card, you get 1% back or even a little more.

Last year I received hundreds of dollars in my paypal debit card returns by using it for most of my shipping needs. When someone paid for an item with paypal, I paid the shipping with my paypal debit card, the funds came directly out of my account so no chance of interest occured and I received a little over 1% back each time.

You just have to make sure you use it pin less and sign for the purchase.
