Water the Elixir of Life

Gardening in my part of Texas can be a challenge. On average we have 21 days or more with temperatures over a 100 degrees.
We have already had one day this year(2/26or27) over 90 degrees. Our annual rain fall average + or - is 30" I have only received 1.3/10's this year. Unless you have a well or a pond that you can draw water from it can be pretty expensive endeavor to keep a garden alive with city or co-op water. I am on co-op water. I have consider rain barrels as an option but haven't really found anything that I would consider feasible until know. I have hopes of adding as many as 5 of the 300 gallon "Sendero" in the near future. texasrainwatertanks.com/residential.html

Definitely a interesting site. Have a karma. Another problem I have here is with rock. I believe I have just enough dirt on my place to hold the rock together. Any time that I break thru the top 6" of soil it turns into major work. Last summer I had to rent a jack hammer in order to set stretchers for my fence.
My property is on a slight slope. Perhaps I could construct a cistern above ground on the down hill side and run plumbing to it. Something to think about. Thanks again.

I am still leaning towards the 300 gallon "Sendero" tanks and maybe incorporating the larger cistern on the down hill side of my property. Instead of having plumbing running all over my limited space I could drain the "Sendero's" to the cistern via garden hose.

Lol, where i live, i can't walk a quarter mile in any direction without coming to a deep creek, river or lake. We have trouble keeping water out of the garden

We all have our cross to bare. I am trying to conquer my parcel with a thankful attitude. I have hopes of maximizing this plots potential. I could be stuck in town living in a duplex or an apartment, but even then there is still hope.
