Well I had been thinking of ways to conserve water as I have 3 daughters and 1 wife that love to shower and often feel the need to take Hollywood showers. As a man who is frugal, I had to take evasive measures. An old saying that I like to adhere to is "drastic time calls for drastic measures," so I made myself an in-house water cop.
My first action was to inform everyone that they would HAVE to take a Navy Shower (incase you have never heard of a Navy shower, it is one where you turn the water on only to rinse and for the initial soaking). Now at first it was hard to get everyone to fall in line but with much persuasion everyone soon fell in. But had the occasional "I forgot". Being the water cop is no easy task one must stay alert at all times with sharp ears to detect the slightest sound of running water and even sharper eyes to see the inconspicuous towel non shulontly draped over the shoulder. Upon detection of either things I have to immediately assume my role as water cop and inform the would be assailants that a Navy shower would be needed. I implemented a few items to ensure enforcement of the new laws set forth by adding a couple of items to help enforce the rule.
One I purchased 2 Peerlsee Power Shower Heads with Pause buttons on them from the local Wal-Mart. These shower heads are very water conservative, they only have a max flow of 2.5 gpm and the pause button, which allows for ease of implementation of the Navy shower.
Secondly I made up signs and hung them at each bathing facility to ensure that everyone knew they were to take a Navy shower and to end for all times, the excuse of "I forgot" because you can't enter the bathing facility without noticing the sign.
Well with all of these implementations it will take a month to see the final result. For those of you that have a well this really isn't an issue with you, unless it has the tendency to run low. You may also be like minded, as we are, and just want to save water and money. We are required by our county to be on rural water. It is water provided my the county and yes we have to pay for it. It is just another tactic, so the state can get a hold of our money. Water conservation is just as much a money issue as an environment issue for us.....Thanx for reading this post I have tried to present it on a humorous manner to make it both informative and fun....HB Ken
