Mark, Some pretty cool projects ya got going on there. I love woodworking but never found the time to get involved with wood turning. Always had an interest in it though.
Nice work Mark! You have a talent for it, for sure! What kind of scroll saw do you use? And be thyself exalted in Karma.........
I used my bandsaw on those deer and trees. However my scroll saw is a DREMEL. ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51l3I%2BBzAyL.jpg For the rings I used a 2x2 block of walnut and drilled a 3/4 hole in the center to fit my girlfriends finger. Then I stuck the piece of wood on a tapered dowel rod to keep it good and tight.
More Karma, that's some great looking stuff you've got there! I use to mess around on the lathe quite a bit but now I spend my free time chasing little kids.
I've messed with copper a little to use as ferrules for tool handles. Definitely takes a little more patience than the wood. I'd love to see some inlays if you get around to it. Antler is another cool material to work with, polishes up like ivory.
Here's a few boxes a turned back in the day and I gave my wife her wedding ring in the one on the left, that's what made me think to post.
Lathes are a lot of fun I still fire my up occasionally but not as much as I should.
