First kid was on the way and all I wanted to do was clear out he house of junk and remodel it.
I found an old "Pittston Cook Stove" in the garage, Wood/Coal .. Very good condition too.
I didn't want it, wife didn't want it. None of my relations wanted it. So I busted it up for scrap and sold it to the scrab yard. Got next to nothing for all the cast.
I'm still kicking myself for it as I think is would have been worth something today!!!! Don't know where I would have put it but I had an old Pittston cook stove.

My woodburning cooking stoves are such a joy to have. Every single meal has been cooked with my antique for the last several weeks. Coffee is perked on it, water is heated with it, food is cooked with it and the house is warmed with it. All with the same fire. I will never live without one. If any of you folks had one and used it you will understand where I'm coming from. MamaD is cooking on it now. As I type this, it's 18 below zero outside and I'm sitting here barefoot, no shirt and a pair of sweat pants. No worries about the heat bill here at the homestead and let me tell ya it's some fricken warm in here. Here's the old gem I have in my NH camp. Ya can't see it real well but it's a light blue enamel.
and the jewel in my house here that you're all pretty sick of seeing. Hey I told ya the novelty never wears off.
Ah don't worry buddy. If busting up a stove was the worst mistake I made 25 years ago then I'd be in better shape than I'm in now. I'm kicking myself for worst mistakes I'll tell ya
Jc Do you have heat your whole house with one cook stove or do you have a nother wood burner or wood furance also!
I have another woodstove in the livingroom. The cookstove throws a LOT of heat but the firebox is too small for an all night log. I only need the livingroom stove in the winter. The cookstove is plenty for fall and spring. There's a new version on the market now that has a full size firebox, awesome oven and water pipe coil in the firebox that you can connect to your domestic hot water. They aren't as ornate as my old gem but I may go for the upgrade one of these days. The new version will heat a good size house all on it's own, also while cooking and heating the water system in the house. Pretty sweet ;D
