I thought that I'd toss this survival tip your way...
We all know various ways of starting a fire but most of us use some type of fuel, rather it be a lighter, matches, or some type of flammable liquid. At times I use steel & flint for which I've broke my flintstone too small to even strike a time or two. When I've done this camping, I came up with a solution while drinking a can of beer.
I cut the can in two, making the cut about an inch from the bottom and tossed the top end to the side, focusing on the bottom section.
I then made several small vertical cuts about a quarter inch down towards the bottom of the can in order to fold the sides over so I wouldnt get cut and so it fits in my tinderbox.
I then flipped the bottom up and used toothpaste to polish the concave end. If you do this at home, used some type of chrome or aluminum polish instead.
After I brought it up to a high finish, I took the bottom of the can and directed the sunlight onto my charcloth and tinder material.
It actually started it on fire after I gave it a for mouths full of air.
Now this will only work during sunlight hours granted you have enough sunlight but all in all, it still worked for me. I hope this will help you out as it has for me!
