I was just wondering if any one has ever owned one and if so how did you like them? I know there more than a regular chain but they are suppose to last 25x longer??
I think what you are referring to is called a STUMP chain. I inquired about these myself in the past and have been told they are a waste of money. A lot more expensive than a regular chain and the performance is not worth the expense.
when i worked in a lumber mill we had them they were a pain if u hit stones or hardware had to change them plus u need to send them out to be sharpened

Yeah I talked to a guy who sells stihl carbide chains and he said they are suppose to last alot longer but like you said if you hit a nail or something it will break the carbide tip off but you can replace each drive link separate. I still don't know. its not as much as i was thinking I can get one for my ms 460 with a 25" bar for $120 the last stihl chain I bought was around $40 so if it really lasts as long as they say it might be worth it. You do have to have them sharpened and that's $20 dollars and they can do it right where I buy it. But who knows it might end up being a piece of crap like JC said so I just don't know??? Ill let ya know what I decide
I have one on my Stihl 039.I was able to cut a load of logs (24 cord) without sharpening. When I did get it sharpened, the company I bought it from had to send it away to get it done. I also noticed that it had lost one tip. Cost $50.00 to get it sharpened and the tip replaced.I think it was worth the money. The reason I bought it was because the logs were full of mud from being dragged out of the bush and I was haveing to stop and sharpen the regular chain every 2nd log.
