I agree on the sperm, but you don't know what you are missing on the squid/calamari

I agree on the sperm, but you don't know what you are missing on the squid/calamari
I had calamari last night. I love it. I guess it would be rocky mountain oysters only they were sliced thin and fried. Pretty good too. I've heard they have a "testicle festival" out in Montana. Supposed to be a pretty wild time.

I had me some of that Squid fried up all golden brown and some of that red sause just last week. MAN it was good. No offence but I'de guess the wierdest thing I "tried" to eat was chitlings (?), But, I don't consider coon, carp, boffalo(fish), turtle, squirrel heads (brains and all) and yes even grinner, which almost makes the wierd list, dad said if you don't like it, it will look better tomorrow and you never ask questions.

Nothing better then a hot cup of joe and reading the swamp posts in the morning..
Shrimp eggs, lobster eggs, snails, sea cabbage, raw scallops i like them still wiggling, wrinkles are my fav. Ive even tried the thumb caps that are on the scallop shells not to bad.
Deer stories limited to 40 points or 40 minutes which ever comes first..

Ha ha yeh for sure patricimo,The fishermen around here eat some strange things. Im a guy that will try anything. I worked of a 45 footer the Thia Baby offshore lobstering. The capt used to spend alot of time in Thailand during the winter. Well he met a wife and back she came and she cooks some strange stuff. He was always bringing stuff to try on the boat. We had roasted insects to try one day

Hey, both my parents families were farmers to some extent and all did their own butchering. When the family got together to butcher hogs grandma would fry pig ears and pig tails, salt them up and give them to us grandkids standing in line waiting! Also, during chicken butchering, grandma boiled the egg bags for us grandkids. There were always a few yolks in the roaster's bags too which was a treat. These were real treats that all of us kids looked forward to every year until we became old enough to help with the butchering!
My Ma's family always made the real-deal hog head cheese after every hog butchering. To this day when I think about the two hogs heads sitting in our kitchen sink waiting for Ma to go to work but what someone would think today if they saw such a thing! lmao She made the world's best, most rich head cheese I've had to date and I've tried a heck of a lot of different makers over the years. Most of what is called head cheese today is more gelatin than anything and since there is no taste, there is no crumbly richness.
The best chicken noddle soup you'll ever have is that made from chicken feet stock bar none! ;D. Ma would make chicken noddle soup and we'd have this big platter of the feet to chew the gristle off. LOL, ya really! ;D
Fried sucker eggs were an annual treat we'd have every spring when the runs started.
LMAO, my wife cringes whenever the family gets to talking about boiled egg bags and fried hog ears.
It cool to hear some of the traditional foods served. Seldom they do alot of the fried fish eggs here. Ive tried them fried and smoked not for me to salty. They eat dried cod fish like crazy drying racks everywhere in the summer. The oldtimers like it cheesy with the little creepy crawllies. I can't do that stuff either turns my stomach but it's a sweet change up for sea run brookie bait when its gummy. ;D

Hell, I got a couple of likens for not being more careful taking the egg bags(skeins) out of the suckers. The reason for the likings was because the loose eggs would pop in the frying and burn Ma!!! Fried sucker eggs with mashed potatoes was a very rich supper for sure!
A lot of my childhood diet came from PA Dutch and Mennonite heritage or influence.
In a town west of me, there is a bar that has an annual Turkey Testicle Festival. This event is enormous and folks come from miles around to drink and get mouths full of fried turkey balls. Now I've ate some strange stuff before, but I just can not bring myself to put any testicles from any type of animal into my mouth!!! No but no thanks!!!

Man You guys have me on this one, I don't have anything even near these (foods)? that are bizarre. I think I will stick to burgers and fries here. The Canadian Trapper

I was on a trip to Scotland and one of their local got me good. He told me to try some "brownies" and milk. I tried the brownies and it wasn't bad. But I noticed that he was laughing the entire time. So I drank the "milk" and to my surprise it wasnt milk or what I call milk. I ate black pudding (cooked blood) and some form of milk (It was lumpy). It was a Scottish tradition so I didn't mind. I also had haggis, I didnt taste bad, but it was salty.
I was in Venezuela one time and I was very hungry. I got a "hotdog" from a street vender and it was the best that I have ever had. Unfortunately is probably was a hot dog. That's my war stories.
I wonder about my mother in-laws cooking sometimes
