I am always searching for money saving methods with 4 kids and several pets in the house. The cost of a 10 Lb. bag of cat litter on average is $7-8 (@walmart). The cost of a 40 Lb. bag of wood stove pellets is $4.69 @ Tractor Supply (TSA). Right now this is the cheapest price I can find (in this area). They are upwards of $7 but remember this is for a 40 Lb. bag not 10 Lbs compared to Cat Litter. Replace your cat litter with Wood Pellets that do NOT contain additives. Additives are bad for the felines! Using natural wood pellets will absorb and control the odor better. Make a two part litter box with a grate that will hold the pellets in their original form. Once they are wet, they will dissentigrate into a sawdust like material and fall through the grate. Simply empty the bottom pan and scoop the feces clumps from the top pan daily. This will eliminate changing the entire cat box and save time, stench and even more mulah! If you choos, you can add Baking soda or Borax to the bottom level of the Cat Box to further eliminate odor...
