The tropical storm last fall knocked down part of a dead maple tree into my chicken yard last fall. I haven't had time to mess with it, and I'm glad I didn't! I got a really nice flush of oyster mushrooms off of it!
Use it up, wear it out. Make it do, or do without![/b]
Im not sure bout eating all the mushrooms I see on logs , how do ya know about the edibles is it all by booklearning?or learnt by following family members out picking .

That is one skill I would love to learn. How to properly identify edible things found in the forest (especially mushrooms! ;D). Are there any good books out there regarding the subject? Or anyone on here that knows and would be willing to share?
I can't wait to look for Fiddleheads of ostrich fern in the Spring!

Check out Mitch on his YouTube channel "Native Survival". He has tons of videos on wild edibles for food and medicinal purposes. There is a book out there that is a "field guide" to wild plants but I will have to dig the title up for you. It's something like.....Wild Edibles of the Northeast......?? I'll see if I still have it and post the title, author, and photo of the cover. Hope this helps.
