Looking to develop some sort of water catchment system at the pole barn for our cattle and a garden. Only problem is that the barn is down hill from the garden patch and corral.
I was thinking of getting a 12v pump and 2 of those 250gal square plastic water tanks to build a water tower of sorts.
Make a 10' tower out of 4x4's or 6x6's. Put square tank up top and plumb down to a frost free hydrant for watering the cows. Hook hose up to water the garden as necessary.
I can pump the collected rain water out of the series of 55 gallon drums at the barn into one of the 250 gal tanks in the truck or on the trailer. Haul to the water tower and then pump it up into the tank.
Hopefully this will reduce the amount of water hauling necessary to a couple times a week.
Does this sound reasonable or a stupid idea? Thanks
