Any birch sap harvesters out there?

My father in law and I started tapping birch trees this years. Did some research and the health benefits are incredible. Naturally prevents migraines, allergies, arthritis, common colds, and the list goes on. The trees just started running this week and we are getting several liters a day off just a few trees. Best part is you drink it raw, no need to process, and it freezes well. No need to boil it down, although it becomes super concentrated if you do. Anyone else try this?

My FRIEND from the U.K> does it all the time. Now what you need to do is start cutting the mushrooms off and making a tea from it too. Chaga is what they are .. good but very mild tasting drink.

Funny I just started researching chaga.. Hopefully that's what will come next.

wish we had them here. My wife has cancer and they are suggesting they help with treatment of cancer. I cant afford a lot of the tea bags but would love to get a chunk of it off the trees...

Does the chaga grow on the golden birch too? I have a lot of birch but no chaga but I think I found a very small one on a yellow birch.

According to my limited research they are found most often on yellow, then white birch. Rarely on grey birch.

My dad tapped a couple this year none ran we tapped them late anyway but Im sure we will try harder next year for some birch sap. we also look for chagas. I think birch are the most  beneficial  tree there is! You can use litterly everything on and in them!

We found out they start running as soon as the maple trees are about done. Basically when they are starting to bud out they start and stop when leaves start showing.

Bhag so they dont need it to freeze at night? I would think they would do the same as maples? What specific type of birch are you tapping?

They really started flowing when the temps hit the upper 50s with nights above freezing. When it got below freezing last week they stopped flowing but kicked back on with the warmer days we have been having. We are tapping only white birch around here.
