Took half a day off today to look for morels, and sent me a pic of a small grey he found! The earliest I've found one here in NW Ohio was April 10th. So, of course, I had to go back to my "early spots" and take a peak. Not a lot of green, and a lot of wet
Anyway, it was good to get back and check things out. I did find a shed, which I'm hoping hogkiller can use for a knife handle for me
Wow!! A shroom already? I better be starting to poke around. If i can just stay in one state for more than a day I might be able to find time to start looking!!
There are others far more knowledgeable than me on shrooms, but it really depends on the weather each year but the first week of May should be about prime time. You are a bit north if us I think so might be a little later.
Around here the first week of May until Mother's Day is usually a good time. If you find some check that spot every year. I find most of mine around dead elms. I have heard old apple orchards can be good too.

That's been something that has always fascinated and intimidated me. I've always wanted to find some edible mushrooms, but my lack of knowledge on the subject has me a little worried I might pick the wrong kind!
Looks like I need to hit the books and learn a little....
OBSESSED: A word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.
Morels are the easiest to identify cone shaped brain type look. Just make sure when you cut them that they are HOLLOW on the inside that is the important part
