Another project at my daughters

Started another project at my daughters .
Painted , stained and polyurethaned the dresser.

Took out her old vanity. And the previous owner didn't tile under it and the style going in you can see under it so I had to put in some tile.

Drilled the hole thru the top and mounted the sink.


Drilled some holes and ran the water lines and drain lines down to the floor tie in.



And the finished product.

Had to cut three of the drawers down so they don't hit .

You sir are very handy and ambitious to boot. Those two don't often fit together with such good results. It obvious that you take pride in most everything you touch.

Started the next project. Not sure if I'm going to sand and stain or put down some kind of laminate flooring ?

Sand a small chunk to show her what is there and she will see things differently.

Did that yesterday, stained it with two different colors . She loved it!

Another little project today , they have no heat in their bedroom . This house is an old farm house that is post and beam construction. So I know it was probably hard to get heat runs exactly where he wanted them . He had a run up one wall to the attic , built a wooden box up there and had4 runs coming off that box into the other three bedrooms and one bathroom. The the registers were in the ceilings ? All of that is not a very good combination. The smallest bedroom is being turned in to a closet so no heat needed, I unhooked that one , the bathroom is really small and was also unhooked. The next smallest bedroom I can get wiring down the wall to the basement for an electric baseboard heater and thermostat. So that leaves one run in the attic way to the front of the house for that bedroom and I did some work today and brought the one from the new closet down and into their room thru the wall , seems to push a bit of heat so that should help . The runs for the downstairs are very short and do not have any dampers on them , so that's the next job . That will allow us to even out the heat a little bit .

Got the run down and thru the wall and framed in and will drywall and finish this weekend.

Update on the floor project, it's seems as though old dad still has a little pull and I got my way and started sanding today . Rented a floor sander . This floor has two Coates of paint on it . I started sanding with 40 grit paper with the grain and even though it was doing a good job the boards had just enough cup in them that it was leaving some paint in those cups , sanding this by hand would have been a ton of work. So I decided to sand across the grain with the 40 grit and the paint came off a lot better . After 41/2 hrs and 5 sanding belts the main part was free of paint , then I went back with the grain with the 40 to get rid of the sanding lines, 3 passes got this pretty good , I had to work at 3pm , so we took one spot 3 boards wide and went over the 40 with 80 grit 3 times and 100 grit twice , and man what a nice job it did . Just have to finish with the 80 and 100 tomorrow, then ready for stain . My daughter text me at work and loved the bare wood , wanted to know if we could just clear coat it !

That floor is looking GOOD! Nice job, nytrapper23.  Love to see a wood floor, and that one looks great.  Keep us posted.

Love it, I agree with her just clear coat that, even if there is some of the paint on it. It adds character.

Totally agree. We redid the wood floors in our old house this exact same way, and the little bits of old stain added some nice character to the final clear coated end product.

I can't wait to see how this turns out.

All sanded , 3 passes with 80 grit and 3 passes with 100 grit . Edges are almost done , hopefully the son in law finishes that today . Then clean up ,wipe down tomorrow, and clear coat or stain on tues.

Well 3 hrs and my knees are killing me but it's all stained , let it dry today then poly tomorrow.

When I got done staining I threw the drywall and corner bead on the heating ductwork I covered up , will put a coat of mud on it tomorrow after putting the first coat of poly on the floor.
