we start a lot of our plants in what we call a water bed, its a small green house with about a ft of water in the bottom, we have styrofoam plant starters that has small holes in the bottom , you use special dirt that won't float out that we get from our fertilizer plant, an we add liquid fertilizer to the water , we start our tomatoes,brocoli coliflower,peppers, cabbage,ect, an the wife starts all her flowers also , i'll post some pics later since its raining cats dogs an little fish out there today.
Ive seen hydro beds like your talking about for tobacco. When we grew tobacco we had regular beds. Ive heard good things about the hydro beds. I look forward to seeing your set up. ;D

yea ky its pretty much the same as the hydro bed but a smaller version this way its easier to keep warm with heat lights i'll post some pics in the next couple days
