Just a reminder that they are ready to be dug, at least in my area. Dug a few for dinner, and a few to transplant outback. I could barely stand my own breath on the ride home!!!
I don't think I have ever seen any. Are the little white flowers part of that plant?? Where are they usually located...wet areas...shady...sandy....sunny???

I had never heard of ramps until you guys started posting about them on here. A friend just showed me some last week but he didn't call them ramps. I went looking for some on my land buy haven't found any yet.
Dale, do you have much luck transplanting them? I want to plant some on my land.
Yes, I have eaten the greens, but I usually just eat the bulbs. So far I haven't had much luck transplanting them, but I'm trying again this year. The same patch usually comes up for me, but doesn't spread. Those white flowers are on another plant. I've heard them called wild leeks also.
You use these just like onions, or garlic. I eat them raw quite a bit. They are great with fried potatoes, or green beans and bacon.
I haven't had any problems transplanting them. I just stuck them in the ground and they took off. I need to move some this year below the house. It's kind wet there along a little run. That's where they seem to grow best.
Use it up, wear it out. Make it do, or do without![/b]
I never knew what you guys were talking about when you were posting about ramps last year. A friend showed me some but up here they call them Leeks. Glad I know what they are now and yes they are awesome
I asked my Uncle about them today....he said that he has never seen them around here, but they are all over the place in NC...where my Mom lives...and she is coming home next week....so tonight I am going to call to see if she can get me some!!!! I really want to try them!!

I grew Leeks in my garden last year. Didn't have any red on them like in the pic. Do these grow wild? I was pretty impressed with the leeks I grew. Pretty much a mild onion to me.
